FRAUD & ETHICS TRAINING

It’s easy to scratch our heads and feel baffled over past and present headlines, asking ourselves why seemingly good people do bad things. But the real questions we should all be challenging ourselves to answer are, if we faced similar circumstances, would we have made the same choices as the people in the news? Or, would we recognize a subtle ethical dilemma when faced with one? Ethical behavior is more than knowing what’s right and what’s wrong – It’s making the right choices for the profession and the organization and clients you serve. Simply put, it is not always simple. And when an unscrupulous fraudster is in the mix, it gets all the more complicated.

The public looks to the profession to maintain a standard of ethics and integrity and the Board of Accountancy holds licensees accountable for protecting the integrity of the profession, but is the profession doing all it can to meet these obligations? This program provides a look into ethical theories that guide personal and professional decisions and behavioral blind spots that can get in the way of doing the right thing.

In this thought – provoking session participants will have the opportunity to:
  • Explore the foundations and philosophies of ethics and professional judgment;
  • Understand the blind spots and behavioral and organizational factors that can impair the judgment of even the most well intentioned professional;
  • Identify some of the red flags of fraud; and
  • Determine improvement opportunities for protecting the CPA brand
