A Day in the Life of an Internal Auditor

Please join us for an exciting course that will explore all of the aspects and critical components of conducting a successful internal audit.  A Day in the Life of an Internal Auditor will explore key components of an internal audit and the subjects that will help enhance the audit experience for auditors as well as clients.

Day 1 Audit Risk Assessment will provide a thorough overview of the sources of material misstatements while giving participants the knowledge, background, and skills to assess the risk of material misstatements and identify substantial audit risks. Participants will review the methodology to assess the risk of material misstatements and understand the documentation requirements in the audit risk assessment process. Participants will then move into The Lifecycle of an Internal Audit.  They will explore Defining an internal audit as well as its purpose and importance.  They will look at recognizing the risks addressed by internal auditors while identifying the impact of advancement in technology on the audit.  Participants will then explore how conducting effective meetings can enhance the audit.  They will
recognize individual strengths and weaknesses in the area of soft skills and identify ways to improve if needed and explore and apply different tools and techniques when preparing for a meeting. Day one will close with problem solving which will help participants conduct more successful internal audits.  Participants will look at the steps involved in problem solving to accurately describe a problem to help identify the steps in problem solving such as making a decision and the impact decisions have on key stakeholders. 

Day 2 will further enhance the internal audit experience by looking at Common Audit Deficiencies: Participants will identify the steps in major program determination and compare internal controls over compliance with compliance.  Participants will the explore Being a trusted Advisor by looking at the meaning of trust in a business environment and the mindset required .  They will identify key skills and behaviors as well as strategies for approaching new business development as a trusted advisor.  The day will end with Covid 19 Navigating the Crisis with Internal Auditors. Participants will explore  the value added by internal auditors to organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The will identify risk areas internal auditors need to help organizations assess and address during the COVID-19 pandemic and will look at understanding the role of internal auditors within the organizational environment as organizations recover and resume operations.


This class will be held online Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am - 12:30pm.
